Thousands of fans turned out to see the stars of the Twilight saga at the New Moon premiere in Los Angeles last night.
But although the screaming teenage girls were predominantly there to see their favourite actors Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, it was the female stars who looked showstopping on the red carpet.
Both Kristen Stewart with her kooky sense of style and stunning actress Ashley Greene have graced magazine covers in recent months.
And while Kristen looked graceful in her gown, Ashley Greene sizzled in a striking red number at the world premiere of New Moon at Mann Village Theatre in L.A.
Kristen, 19, who plays Bella Swan in the films, wore a Oscar de la Renta gown for the evening.
Her short hair, heavily layered to play musician Joan Jett in her latest music project, was curled and quiffed on top of her head.
Ashley Greene, 22, Alice Cullen in the movie, wore a clinging but elegant red Prabal Gurung gown with shoulder detail and large hoop earrings.
The traffic-stopping outfit even required an extra person to help her walk the carpet.
Robert Pattinson, 23, who stars as vampire Edward Cullen, rolled up looking dapper to the delight of his screaming fans who gave him a Beatles-worthy reception.
He had ditched his scruffy red carpet wear and smartened up for the premiere in a Gucci suit and black tie.
Taylor Lautner, 17, wearing a blue suit, looked overwhelmed by the massive reception from fans, many of whom had been camping out since Thursday night.
The teen, who plays Jacob Black in the movie, was without rumoured girlfriend Taylor Swift.
The film is the most anticipated of the year and has become the biggest advance ticket-seller in Hollywood history.
Dakota Fanning, a newcomer to the saga, vamped it up in a short black and lacy Valentino dress.
Thousands of fans crammed into the Westwood neighbourhood of L.A. to catch a glimpse of the stars and supporting cast. Many were waving 'Bite me Edward' signs and waving banners.
Michelle Cueva, 38, carried a sign identifying her group as the 'Twi-hard Grannies'. She and her two friends said they 'planned for a whole year' and took a day off to be there.
Robert Pattinson, R-Pattz to his fans, said the reception for the actors was incredible
'It's got bigger,' he said. 'Especially as we travel all over the entire world. We had 20,000 people in Munich yesterday.
'It's kind of incredible, to have done all these cities in a week, and it's still just as intense everywhere.'
Kristen Stewart said the evening was a celebration of 'Taycob' - Taylor Lautner who plays Jacob Black.
'I'm so proud of that kid,' she said.
'He's taught me more than I've ever been able to bestow on him. I think he's the most centred of everybody here.'
Ashley Greene told interviewers: 'My goodness, I just pulled up, and I got so nervous again.
'People always ask if I'm used to it, but there's no way to get used to it, because they just keep getting more and more exciting. [The fans] are very passionate, and it keeps getting bigger. It's incredible.'
Also at the premiere was the author of Twilight, Stephanie Meyer, making a rare appearance, presenter Cat Deeley, actress Jennifer Love Hewitt and singer Joan Jett.
Supporting actors in attendance included Kellen Lutz (Emmet Cullen), Peter Facinelli (Dr Carlise Cullen) and actress wife Jennie Garth, Michael Sheen (Aro) and daughter Lily, Elizabeth Reaser (Esme Cullen), Jackson Rathbone (Jasper Hale), Noot Seear (Heidi) and Nikki Reed (Rosalie Hale).
The film opens on Friday, with some cinemas in the UK opening at midnight for special screenings.
