“The Twilight Saga’s Breaking Dawn“: One movie or two? That is the question. While Deadline Hollywood is insistent that we will indeed get a fourth and fifth movie out of the last installment of the popular franchise, representatives for Summit are keeping mum.
Per MTV:
“No decision has been made,” a representative for Summit Entertainment told MTV News after the Deadline Hollywood story ran. “As we have said all along, we are continuing to work with Stephenie Meyer to bring ‘Breaking Dawn’ to the big screen.”
While Deadline Hollywood goes on to claim that both parts of “Breaking Dawn” will reportedly shoot back-to-back beginning in mid October, and producers are searching for “high end” directors. Industry insiders think the film may be split by having one movie telling Bella’s story and the other would be from Jacob’s point of view. Many sites have “announced” the same facts over the last few months, all apparently premature. Summit has neither confirmed nor denied either rumor, but don’t be surprised if an announcement isn’t made soon. Everyone from movie producers to the stars has been saying “Breaking Dawn” would probably become two movies. Apparently the holdup in announcing was that the actors had signed for only four installments, so everyone had to renegotiate for a fifth - and there has been no official word on if they have indeed signed on yet. This is not the only snag standing in the way. The book may be difficult to make into a movie, as it includes - SPOILER ALERT for the few who have not read the book - not only an actual sex scene but also a C-section that skips the scalpel in favor of Edward’s teeth. The sex and teenage pregnancy written in the book may also have to face some serious revisions to get the PG-13 rating it needs for its target audience.
So until we have an official statement from Summit, right now its all purely speculation.
