| Subject: “Remember Me” leaves audiences asking, “Remember what?” Thu Mar 25, 2010 3:19 pm | |
| With the enormous success of the “Twilight” saga, Robert Pattinson decided to take on a different role in the romantic drama, “Remember Me.” I don’t consider myself a die-hard “Twilight” saga fan, but I have read the books and seen the movies, so I was curious to see Pattinson in a role where he wasn’t a vampire. Personally, I wish I would have decided to leave my curiosity alone.
“Remember Me” is the story of Tyler (Robert Pattinson), a troubled young man who seems to be at war with the world. Tyler struggles with the absence of his workaholic businessman father (Pierce Brosnan) in his life except when he needs him financially.
Just when he thinks nobody will ever understand him, he meets Ally (Emilie de Ravin) through an odd twist of fate.
Not expecting to fall in love, Tyler begins to fall for Ally who teaches and inspires him about the world. Ally herself has experienced tragedy and pain just as Tyler has, but together they seem to be a match made in heaven. Through their time together, Tyler finds happiness in his life for the first time in a long time.
Although the movie might sound entertaining on paper, it drags on with the plot leaving the audience bored and waiting for an ounce of excitement. The actors perform well, especially Pattinson, who shows he can act in another role besides a vampire.
Throughout the movie, you witness a family who has experienced much tragedy in their life. One relationship you can’t help but adore is the one between Tyler and Caroline, his younger sister. You might leave wishing he was your big brother as he spends his time offering her advice and looking out for her.
As the movie approaches its ending, a sad twist comes into play causing the audience’s jaws to drop, and after the credits start to roll, you may ask yourself, “What was the point?”
