Kristen Stewart is getting another glimpse at the dark side of fame, with what insiders are reporting is a serious stalker.
According to the Chicago Sun Times, “People close to ‘Twilight’ star Kristen Stewart are concerned she is not taking seriously enough a stalker who has been sending disturbing letters and showing up at events – apparently even at her home.”
This is the third in a series of reports that finds the “Twilight” star caught in the negative tangle of international celebrity. In an interview with British Elle magazine, Stewart recently compared fame and paparazzi intrusiveness to “rape,” a comment that has been widely criticized and that she eventually apologized for. She was also traumatized by a flock of paparazzi in Australia, who chased her down a street, cornering her in front of a closed restaurant into which she’d hope to find refuge.
And now the stalker.
The Chicago Sun Times quotes a longtime Hollywood honcho, who warns of the difference between pesky paparazzi and potentially unbalanced stalkers. “…this isn’t like the paparazzi – who Kristen understandably hates because they are so intrusive. These people can be dangerous…real nuts…scary kooks…these people are far more serious that the merely annoying paparazzi.”
So far, Stewart is at least acting like she’s unfazed. She tells Elle magazine, “I have one crazy stalker. It’s not worth changing my number for. I’m pretty certain that it’s some girl who got my number from someone I went to school with.”
