Lots of “Twilight” news hitting the wires today. As Robert Pattinson attempts to work outside of the franchise, series scripter Stephenie Meyer announces plans to expand the “Twilight” universe.
The AP reports that Little, Brown Books for Young Readers will release “The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner” on June 5. The novella is told from the viewpoint of Bree, a newborn vampire featured in Meyer’s third “Twilight” book, “Eclipse.”
In a statement issued Tuesday, Meyer said that the novella was supposed to be included in “The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide,” but became too long.
And there’s a good reason to support the novella. Publishers announced that $1 for each book sold in the U.S. from the first printing of 1.5 million copies will be donated to the American Red Cross International Response Fund, which supports disaster relief efforts such as those in Haiti and Chile.
Meanwhile, “Twilight” fans are patiently awaiting the release of the “Eclipse” film adaptation, which opens in theaters June 30.
