Kristen Stewart has buried her ghostly purity on Twilight, replacing it with a raucous pot-smoking prostitute in a new movie, Welcome To The Rileys.
Stewart, 19, in the part of Bella has achieved almost the same cult celeb status as co-star Robert Pattinson, with whom she is romantically linked.
Director Jake Scott said of the movie debuting in Berlin: 'We shot this in 2008, so Twilight came out when we'd wrapped. I saw her in Into The Wild. We got lucky.'
Stewart in Welcome To The Rileys plays Mallory, a down-and-out teenage stripper and prostitute in the southern city of New Orleans. Riley, played by James Gandolfini of The Sopranos fame, takes Mallory under his protective wing.
Riley has lost a 15-year-old daughter. Said Scott: 'As a director I was attracted to it [the story] because I'm a father and I made a film really about fatherhood.'
The movie is expected to be released in the US in the autumn.
