New Moon star Kristen Stewart has said she was 'really lucky' to get to play Joan Jett in new movie The Runaways.


The 19-year-old actress, who plays the lead role of Bella in the Twilight saga, stars opposite Dakota Fanning in a new biopic about 70s band The Runaways.


While on US TV's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, she said: 'I was really lucky to have her be so into the project and so open about it, because not a lot of people my age know about The Runaways and it was the most important part of her life and kick-started her career.


'And also, they were the first girl band. They were the first girls to ever play aggressive, sexual assertive rock and roll.'
