The internet was abuzz this weekend with the 'news' that Robert Pattinson, best known for playing the brooding vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight films, was handpicked by Courtney Love to play Kurt Cobain in a biopic about the Nirvana frontman set up at Universal. The Sun reported on April 9th that Pattinson would be Kurt to Scarlett Johansson's Courtney, but that report's been shot down by Entertainment Weekly and Spin.com.
EW touched base with Universal who said The Sun's got their facts wrong. And Spin got this response from Courtney Love's manager, Jonathan Daniel: "That's an amazing story, and the first I've heard of any of this."
So, Nirvana fans can go back to speculating over who will play Cobain in Heavier Than Heaven, based on the biography of the same name by Charles R. Cross. Personally, I'm still pulling for Joe Anderson. He looks like Cobain, can act, and sang well enough in Across the Universe.
